Pavani Sree- A Passionate and an Upcoming Writer from Hyderabad

Pavani Sree is an up-and-coming writer currently pursuing a Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Hyderabad. Ever the scholar, she’s taken a strong interest in poetry lately and has been trying to spread positivity throughout her home country of India and beyond with her words.

One of her greatest heroes is Sonu Sood, whose good works inspire her to do better every day. She’s incredibly passionate about every person’s right to be treated as important.

Beautifully limping

People see my limp
And mock or pity me
But they don’t know
And they don’t see
Who I can easily be.

My limp is just as beautiful
As any supermodel’s stride.
This leg proudly carries me
To places far and wide.
This leg, that you might not respect,
Tirelessly serves me every day.
This leg refuses to give up.
And I think I have a right to say
I love my leg, this limp and all.
No matter how weary, how sore,
It always answers my every call.

I can feed a group of thirty.
I’m an earner, a woman who supports,
A lady on her way to a PhD,
A lady of very much import.
I excel at looking after children,
At valuing and loving them.
And all this on my limping leg.
Never once have I had to beg,
Because I take what I want most.
So yes, I do have a limping leg
And of that beloved leg, I’ll boast!
I pity a view of beauty
That’s so limited to skin.
How unfortunate to fail
To see the worth within.
Blind to real ugliness,
To rudeness and to sin.
Give me my humble leg
And I will use it to achieve.
But rudeness walks you nowhere.
That’s what I believe.

Yes, you walk upon the ground
With just a bit more ease
But I can glide so far above it,
Wherever I might please.
I worked hard, endlessly,
From dawn to darkest night
All to earn these shining wings
That give the gift of flight.
All to rise above my limits,
Soaring with the light.

The conferences I can attend
Are atop a mountain built
Of hard work and dedication.
It can’t be reached with stilts.
You have to soar above the peak
And land with poise and grace.
There are places I can go
That others cannot face.
You think that I would compromise
And meet a man at the base?
No. It’s not a fair compromise
Unless he’s halfway to outer space.
